About Us

The Senior Center offers life-sustaining and life-enriching services to help Seniors live productive, independent and meaningful lives. For more than 100 members and many daily drop-in visitors, the Center offers a place to meet, play and work with each other, and to use the many services that are provided.

Many seniors attend the Center regularly, participating in art and aerobic classes, playing bingo or bridge, others come and enjoy a coffee and stay for lunch. You can enjoy the full benefits of the Center by becoming a member.

The benefits include:

A drop-in social center open 4 days a week (Tuesday-Friday 9-3) Priority registration and discounted rates for programs, events, and trips A variety of free or discounted activities for many interests and hobbies A free lending library and a free medical lending closet (walkers, wheelchairs, etc) A monthly newsletter delivered to your home or email Volunteer opportunities Scholarships The membership fee is $25. Reduced fees and scholarships for membership are available for anyone who cannot afford the fees. Activities at the Center The Senior Center is open to Seniors 60 years and older Tuesday through Friday from 9am to 3pm. Every Wednesday and Friday the Center offers nutritious lunches, both meat-based and vegetarian, provided by the Council on Aging.

Once a month the Senior Center distributes packages of food provided by the Sonoma County Food Bank for low income Seniors.

The Center organizes a wide range of activities and classes to keep you active physically, mentally, and socially:

Tai Chi Gentle Yoga Spanish Classes Computer Classes Stitchery Circles Art Classes Folk Dancing Movies Table Tennis Bridge Club Bingo Golf at Northwood Field Trips Holiday Feasts Help Beyond the Senior Center Individuals involved with the Senior Center are offered a wide range of in-home services. Among them are: Home delivered meals from the Council on Aging Low-cost or free counseling Help with personal business Aid in finding needed resources Loans of medical equipment Guidance in planning with your families for the future Each month the Center produces a newsletter, The Scoop, which includes a daily calendar of the activities offered each day during the month. It features articles about local Seniors, provides notice of coming events, and informs of important resources. The Scoop lists the menus for the lunches served on Wednesdays and Fridays at the Center during the month. It also lists the menus served by WCCS at two other West County locations: in Occidental on Monday and Wednesday at St. Philips Church, 3730 Bohemian Hwy, and in Forestville on Tuesday at the United Methodist Church, 6550 Covey Road.

Senior Case Management WCCS connects seniors with health and human service resources in their local community and provides case management and follow up to assist seniors and families plan for the future.
