Mill Street Housing in Guerneville, opened by West County Community Services in 2013, offers permanent, supportive housing for eight chronically homeless adults with disabilities. This inclusive community fosters diversity by providing individual bedrooms and shared living spaces, along with a range of support services tailored to residents’ needs. WCCS emphasizes equitable access to resources such as medical, financial, and personal support, helping residents improve their quality of life and maintain stable housing.
Supportive housing is an evidence-based housing intervention that combines non-time-limited affordable housing assistance with wrap-around supportive services for people experiencing homelessness, as well as other people with disabilities.
Research has proven that supportive housing is a cost-effective solution to homelessness, particularly for people experiencing chronic homelessness.
