The Empowerment Center’s mission is to provide a safe haven for people chronically challenged by mental health issues. We are a member-driven Peer-Managed center which encourages and helps our members and drop-ins to be involved in the center’s activities and decisions. There is no fee for membership.
The Empowerment Center is a peer-operated, self-help drop-in center sponsored by WCCS for people with chronic mental health challenges. Most of our activities are provided by our peer staff members and volunteers. We share what we have learned during our own individual journeys to mental health recovery. As peer managers and counselors, we bring to our members the lessons of our experiences. We are able to meet together on an empathetic level to work with the issues of mental illness. We provide groups and individual counseling with professional counselors, and assist with referrals, resources, and peer to peer support in managing life’s stresses.
