On Sat­ur­day, July 15, a mul­ti-gen­er­a­tional com­mu­ni­ty of more than 100 gath­ered at the Russ­ian Riv­er Senior Cen­ter to enjoy a roast­ed pig feast,

and the many entries of a pie-bak­ing con­test. The pig was roast­ed as usu­al to per­fec­tion by Daryl Bush­gen and his crew.  Kath­leen Sheri­dan won the pie bak­ing con­test with her blue­ber­ry pie dec­o­rat­ed with leaves. Angela Orr’s pie, an apple doo­dle dandy, placed sec­ond. The dis­tin­guished pie-judg­ing com­mit­tee was com­posed of Coun­ty Super­vi­sor Lin­da Hop­kins, Steve Bax­man, and  Clark of the KSRO Howard Clark Show.

West Coun­ty Com­mu­ni­ty Ser­vices spon­sored the event to show its appre­ci­a­tion for the community’s impor­tant sup­port. With a vari­ety of car­ni­val-like booths, WCCS employ­ees gave atten­dees infor­ma­tion about the range of the Agency’s work.

The band — Ward, Ahlvin & Jones Trio plus friends — offered up a great array of tasty tunes to the din­ing guests, who had, by all accounts, a very good time.
