On Saturday, July 15, a multi-generational community of more than 100 gathered at the Russian River Senior Center to enjoy a roasted pig feast,

and the many entries of a pie-baking contest. The pig was roasted as usual to perfection by Daryl Bushgen and his crew. Kathleen Sheridan won the pie baking contest with her blueberry pie decorated with leaves. Angela Orr’s pie, an apple doodle dandy, placed second. The distinguished pie-judging committee was composed of County Supervisor Linda Hopkins, Steve Baxman, and Clark of the KSRO Howard Clark Show.
West County Community Services sponsored the event to show its appreciation for the community’s important support. With a variety of carnival-like booths, WCCS employees gave attendees information about the range of the Agency’s work.

The band — Ward, Ahlvin & Jones Trio plus friends — offered up a great array of tasty tunes to the dining guests, who had, by all accounts, a very good time.
