Shelter Shift Supervisor Position(s)

Job Title: West County Emergency Shelter Shelter Shift Supervisor

Time:16-32 hours per week - 4 shifts a week maximum.

General Job Description:

Under the direct supervision of the Shelter Director, the Shift Supervisor is responsible for overseeing, facilitating, and coordinating the activities of clients & volunteers during the hours of emergency shelter operation. The Shift Supervisor provides a safe, nurturing environment for shelter clients and is responsible for the daily operations and maintenance of the shelter.

Major Job Duties:

  • Facilitate the operation of & supervise the activities in an emergency shelter for homeless adults, both male and female
  • Monitor the volunteer schedule to ensure openings are filled
  • Welcome volunteers & greet shelter guests, and have all sign the attendance log
  • Greet each client and make sure HMIS System interview has been previously completed
  • Manage volunteers and help them find projects to do while they are at the shelter
  • Help Volunteer Coordinator manage volunteers by making reminder phone calls, helping fill volunteer schedule, and report volunteer attendance
  • Attend required staff meetings and communicate with the Shelter Director about the activities and needs of the shelter

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of issues relating to homelessness
  • Currently reside in stable housing situation
  • Experience with social services, preference given to shelter management experience
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Creativity, friendliness, and a sense of humor
  • Ability to both take direction and to work autonomously when necessary
  • Ability and willingness to work as a team member and support the mission and goals of West County Community Services.

After School Program

Title: Program Leader

Job Begins: Ongoing
Hourly Rate: $10.00
Hours: 12–15 hours per week

West County Community Services has openings for part-time Program Leaders in the Russian River After School Program.

Job summary:

Under the direction of the Site Coordinator, the Program Leader will provide academic assistance and tutoring to students in the after school program, and will lead engaging academic, enrichment and recreation activities with groups of up to 20 students.

Requirements:

Prior training or experience working with diverse youth in an organized setting. Ability to communicate and work well with children K-8. Must be reliable and meet the hours required for the program. Must adhere to fingerprint and DOJ background check & TB Clearance.
